Taylor / NS74ce / 2007 / Natural / Guitar

It's circa 1989 and my roommate, Ted and I threw a party. It was just one of many epic (and often unmentionable) adventures we partook of in those great heydays and on this particular night, a guitarist was among us with whom I would go on to form several killer bands. And, when I say "killer", this boy could tear the tracks off of a Cat 963 with his left hand, so his talent was acknowledged the moment he walked in the door. So, it's about 10:00 pm or so and he quips up, "Hey man, you got a guitar laying around here?" I probably mumbled something about doing a shot first when my roommate, the ultimate party animal, Ted says, "I got an old acoustic in my room". That led to Ted running back to his bedroom and producing one of the most decrepit, early 70s, stanked- up, railroad track inlays falling out, bowed neck Grammars I'd ever seen. I didn't even know those guitars existed and when I looked at the headstock, I said, "Oh, it's an Ampeg. Who knew?" Well, that quickly didn't work out, but a neighbor brought over a classical Yari- Alvarez and the end result was my dear guitarist friend playing to an small and amazed group out on my deck for about three hours. I mention this occurrence because as a guitar player, you should always keep an inexpensive acoustic around the house. You may have a group of people over and want to entertain them or even better yet, be bringing a date home. In that case, the sure path to naked glory would be to strum out Bon Jovi's "Dead or Alive" and enjoy the following fireworks. Simply put, this Taylor fits the bill of which I speak perfectly and in case you ever graduate to a level above you buddie's back deck, you can merely plug this guitar in and wear that local coffee house crowd out. Experience what hundreds of people all over the world already know- Lee and Ray at GrinningElk will do whatever it takes to make you a member of the 'Elk family, so come on in and getcha' some 'Elk service served up Southern style!
