Although born in Sweden, luthier Tobias Berg has followed the craft of guitar making through Canada, England, and the US. He finally settled in Germany where he has been a full-time guitar builder for many years. His guitars are light in weight, a bit more compact in build size and are therefore very comfortable, fun and easy to play. They have a beautiful, liquid quality to the tone, and are incredibly balanced. This guitar has a spruce top which has great clarity between voices and at the same time has a rich velvety texture in every note. Back and sides are pau ferro, also known as "iron wood" which is striking and exotic in appearance. This guitar has a unique and bold aesthetic - the headshape, rosette and bridge reveal a fondness for traditional Japanese architecture which Tobias admires for its understated elegance in its usage of perfect lines and sharp edges. He has seamlessly and delicately integrated elements of this into his unique and beautiful design.
This particular guitar features his double-sided construction method. Tobias has been perfecting this method in his own guitars for some time now, and we have been very pleased with several of these that have come through our doors. For tone, the double-sides give the guitar a deeper, almost "cathedral-like" presence to the sound, a quality we've only heard before in modern Friederich guitars. Despite having been previously owned, the guitar is in excellent condition with only minor signs of prior use.
Guitar Salon International, USA
Founded in 1983, Guitar Salon International (GSI) is the world’s largest dealer of concert-level classical and flamenco guitars. For over 35 years now, we serve players, collectors and aficionados by offering the best hand-built instruments of leading young guitar makers as well as those of established historical masters. In this process, we acquire and sell many of the most desirable instruments in history, and we subsequently help to assemble important private collections. With the involvement of top concert artists (including Pepe Romero, Scott Tennant, Marc Teicholz, Andrew York and others), GSI showcases several exceptional guitars through audio, video, studio-CD and live concert recordings.
Guitar Salon International established the GSI Foundation in 2011 after receiving public donations aimed at community development. The Foundation’s mission is to help develop the local community by raising money to support music education in public schools. These local schools are then offered assistance to pay teachers, provided with instruments for students who cannot afford them, and supplied with musicians for performances that can inspire kids to play a musical instrument.
GSI will gladly send a guitar anywhere in the world for trial and approval. Our approval period is 48 hours from the time the instrument is received. If a return is requested within 48 hours of the guitar's arrival, a full refund will be issued*** (less shipping charges and assuming original condition), or another guitar can be sent on trial.
30-Day Guitar Exchange: Within 30 days from the date of purchase, GSI will exchange any guitar toward the purchase of any other instrument of equal or greater value. Providing the instrument is returned in original condition, the full purchase price will be credited.
2-Year Guitar Exchange: Within two years from the date of purchase, GSI will exchange any guitar toward the purchase of any other instrument of equal or greater value. Providing the instrument is returned in original condition (less normal wear), 70% of the purchase price excluding tax will be credited.
