These early "lawsuit era" guitars are highly regarded for their  quality, achieved by Tokai's detailed analysis and replication of vintage Fender and Gibson models. To achieve this, the company reportedly acquired vintage Gibson and Fender guitars for analysis and replication.

The Breezy Sound series: Tokai created the "Breezy Sound" series to replicate the Fender Telecaster. This name was applied to their Telecaster-style models.

Quality and reputation: These vintage Japanese Tokai Telecasters are well-regarded for their quality, playability, The replicas made by Tokai were, at the time, of incredible quality. The different woods used were of higher quality than those used by Gibson. Indeed, Tokai had researched and analyzed the original Gibson to be able to make guitars of superior quality. and value, with some collectors considering them to be excellent instruments comparable to their Fender counterparts from the same era.

Vintage features: To achieve vintage accuracy, these early models often featured elements like vintage-style neck profiles, specific fret radii, and a thin rosewood laminate fingerboard instead of a slab, though the finishes were often poly rather than nitrocellulose.
