"The Witch Bass." I'm not sure where the folks at Vantage came up with the names for their basses, but I think these monikers are cooler than a '50s horror movie. This VX600B is a mysterious and exotic instrument- it's kind of like ballroom dancing with a tall woman. It's both intoxicating and a bit scary at the same time. That said, you are never afraid to go back and try it again. It's the same with this bass.

Now I'm no virtuoso on a fretless bass by any means, but I do know a great fretless "mwah" when I hear it. This bass has a smooth and subtle tone and the neck is simply sublime. It's almost effortless to play. The notes bend and blend in with each other and there's nothing in this world like slidden fretless harmonics. They're hard to do but very much worth the effort (check our Pearl Jam's "Evenflow").

To be 46 years old, this bass is quite tidy in both appearance and condition. You'll find the requisite light pick swirl marks and light surface scratches, but they are minor and it's obvious that this bass has been well taken care-of. It also clocks in at 8 lbs, 8 oz, which would be the perfect Les Paul weight and your shoulders will thank you later. It's been set up, detailed and given a fresh set of flatwounds, so it will arrive ready to go. The inclusion of the original case and key is the proverbial icing on top of the cake, so you'll enjoy a complete package!
