Washburn / Stage Series B-20 Bass / 1982 / Amber Burst / Bass

The Washburn Stage Series B-20 was manufactured by Matsumoku in Japan between 1980 and 1985. Featuring a threepiece through-neck, ash body wings and a flamed maple laminate on the front of both the body and headstock, this was a rather hi-end instrument. This quality is also reflected in the hardware, consisting of DiMarzio P/J pickups, a heavy chromed brass bridge design similar to a BadAss bridge and quite nice quality tuners. The flawless thin polyurethane finish and details like the circular brass position marker inlays and the nice fretjob reflect the attention and care take when this instrument was made.

This B-20 sounds and plays great, with plenty of sustain from the through-neck construction. The frets are almost in as-new condition so the action can be set nice and low without fret buzz and at 3,9kg this bass is remarkably light for an ash-bodied through-neck instrument. The neck has an interesting, somewhat V-shaped profile that feels great. The full sounding pickups work well with this bass and the control setup makes it a quite versatile instrument.

Apart from some buckle rash and some dings on the edges this bass looks just great and could almost pass for new seen from the front. The control knobs even still have their protective plastic on them from the factory! The only modification is a new nylon nut that a previous owner fitted to replace the original brass nut. The cool original brown case is included with the sale.
