Yamaha / L-25AT Brazilian Owned By Tommy Tedesco / 1981 / Natural Finish / Guitar

The L-25AT was one of Yamaha’s hand-built performance-grade flat-tops, built in their Custom shop. This pretty guitar was the property 1 of the famous members of the “Wreaking Crew”, Mr. Tommy Tedesco, from new, as he was a huge Yamaha Endorser. Tommy played w/most everyone that was anyone during the 50’s thru the 80’s from Elvis Presley to Sammy Davis Jr. & from Stevie Wonder to Frank Zappa…the list goes on. The Yamaha L-25AT borrows its design from the famous dreadnought, the Martin D-35 w/its 3-piece Brazilian rosewood back. Yamaha was primarily known for its run of the mill instruments, they made beautiful hand-made instrument that had to compete with Western brands such as Martins. Yamaha used the most regarded type of wood for the L-25AT, which is Brazilian Rosewood with an astonishing pattern. It is combined with a Sitka spruce top. It has a bound ebony neck & on the top & back of its body. The L-25AT was therefore the top of the line in the brand’s series from 1981. The 3-piece rosewood dread’s are known for their typical deep, but balanced, low end, dark and rich tone and a lot of definition in the highs. It’s a very fine sounding instrument, with a lot of volume, a thick and dark midrange, articulated and balanced bass and warm high-end. Particularly well suited for singer-backup, this Yamaha is an excellent strummer and a fan of dropped and open tunings. The L-25AT was Yamaha’s highest-end instrument that was exported to North America, and is easily comparable to a Brazilian rosewood Martin D-35 of the same era, if such a thing existed. It has no cracks, repairs or touchup ever. Tommy used it a lot over the years but kept it in excellent shape overall. Documented by his Son Denny Tedesco. It comes complete w/its original black hard case.
