Daniel Slaman / Nylon String Jazz, Custom Acoustic Archtop Guitar / 2009 / Semi Gloss / Guitar

This unique, elegant crossover instrument is Slaman's first nylon stringed archtop ever sold, sporting a significantly thinner carved top than is commonly used on an archtop guitar, preceding his second generation, domed construction.

By clearing away from traditional archtop construction, the guitar is able to project nylon or steel strings acoustically and with tremendous character.

As a result, its distinct tone is altogether different from a traditional archtop and approaches more that of an acoustic jazz guitar sound than you would expect coming from an archtop.

Although formally called "Nylon String Jazz", this guitar accepts both (high tension) nylon strings and (light) steel strings perfectly.

Played with steel strings, the guitar creates lots of volume, tremendous bark, appropriate overtones and a dry sound with only mild mid-frequency sustain.

Because of its projection, the sound fits right in for accompanying or soloing in an acoustic jazz session.

If you'd like to grab anyone's attention during your solo, the strings between the bridge and the tailpiece are coincidentally tuned in a high pitched 9th chord.

The custom elegant design carries several unique features, including a slotted headstock with cypress overlay, cypress back and sides, carved rosewood tailpiece, black buffalo horn nut, Sloane tuners with black rollers and deluxe snakewood knobs and RMC string-by-string piezo amplification.

Using high-end string-by-string RMC piezo amplification, the output can be transformed to mono jack-out, as well as Guitar / MIDI when used with an additional pre-amp.

Working as a luthier for over four decades, well-known for his meticulous Gibson L5 copies, Slaman has furthered nylon crossover guitars, taking the mellow tone of nylon and combining it with the playability and feel of an archtop.

The result is what Slaman titled the Nylon String Jazz Guitar: A feather lightweight, yet sophisticated guitar with a warm and percussive sound, very well suited for plectrum picking.

Any seasoned archtop player will feel right at home with his gorgeous nylon instruments.

Used traditionally for flamenco guitars, cypress is a favourite wood of Slaman. Not only for its workability and sound but also its the wonderful smell; the fragrance constantly oozes out through the soundholes.

As an independent, sought-after luthier, situated in The Netherlands (The Hague), Daniel Slaman produces twelve to fifteen guitars yearly for musicians around the world. His current waiting list is reaching up to two years.

Internationally renowned players of Slaman's (Nylon) Jazz Guitars includes none other than Pat Metheny, among others.

Official Slaman purchase documentation included, including taxation.
