FENDER STRATOCASTER – NATURAL FINISH – 1982 - DAN SMITH ERA

In August 1981 Fender hired Dan Smith to improve the reputation of the company. Dan Smith would be Fender’s chief guitar designer for the next 20 years. He intensively studied vintage Strats to understand how to “recreate” them.

One of the first improvements Smith made was to revise the Strat’s overall specs, introducing the Stratocaster standard as the new regular model. It reverted to body-end truss-rod adjustment, a revamped narrow headstock shape and 4bolt neck to body fixing.

This Stratocaster standard, nicknamed “the Smith Strat”, was only made in 1982 and had the black Fender smaller headstock logo, F-stamped tuners and a one-piece die-cast tremolo unit.

Made in USA, this wonderful guitar boasts a high quality rosewood fingerboard, 21 frets and the famous and very rare X1 pickups.

This mint condition guitar is part of a collection so it has quite never been played. All original and absolutely no dings. Original Fender hard case shell, whammy bar and bridge cover included,
