• D shape neck profile

• 22 frets - join at 14 fret

Kopo Guitars are renowned for their quality and design. Fred Pons a.k.a. Fred Kopo is the leading light of French guitar design. Fred's Moto is "add lightness" and you can definitely sense this in the guitar. It is very light indeed - well balanced - and very responsive. It is very 'bright' and crisp sounding, yet produces deep bass responses. This is a professional's guitar.

It is made of SOLID WOOD throughout (no laminates): all locally sourced French woods to help protect the environment.

  • Solid Jura mountain Spruce top - VERY lively and responsive. Every note's dynamics and the slightest movement in your playing is responded to
  • Solid Walnut sides and back - produces a warm clear sound
  • Satin Finish
  • Cormier fingerboard and bridge - a hardwood of France - Raspberry Tree? - which has mother of pearl side markings at 3,5,7,9,12,15,17 frets (see pic)
  • Neck - Linden Tree wood (Tilleuil) is a very comfortable flat D shape
  • Radiused fretboard
  • Maple bindings
  • 14 inch body width at lower bout
  • 3 ¾ inch depth
  • Walnut 'armrest' built in on walnut top side to make playing more comfortable
  • Schertler tuners and a double hole bridge make for accurate tuning.

The fretboard intonation is perfect. No fret wear.

An Ischell J48C Inside pick up is installed with a very discreet volume wheel tucked inside the sound hole for easy access (see picture): 9v battery or 48v phantom power.  (You need a stereo /TRS cable for 48v)

After a year of playing in my smoke free house the guitar has matured and is settling in nicely. The sound has softened somewhat over the last year.  So... why am I selling it?

My musical plans have changed and I have now formed a 1930s swing quartet (just pre lockdown!) and need to buy a good quality archtop guitar.
