About Casper Guitar Technologies

I began building guitars back in the 1980's after being extremely disappointed in the "Big Name Brand" guitars found in most of the major music stores. See, I played in a band around the OSU campus and was in the market for an upgrade from my Korean LP. (Purchased in person from a small store in Munsan Korea while I was stationed there in 1981). When I returned Stateside, I picked up playing the Guitar pretty solid again and went out shoping for a new Axe.

There was something I noticed during my shopping and that was the quality of the guitars found in the Boutique Guitar Shops were by far superior and were somehow, more special, cooler, hipper than those found in the big box store varieties.

After close inspection of nearly 100's of boutique guitars, I discovered what makes each guitar special. It's the attention one person put into it. It's that attention to each and every tiny detail that separates the craftsmanship of the "Hurry Up Assembly Line's" of the Mass Produced Guitars from the World Class Hand-Crafted Devices of Musical Inspiration that are produced by the many specialty builders and custom shops.

So, seeing that I come from a family of engineers and cabinet makers, the skills required to design and build a class instrument were instilled into me from a very young age. Working with my Grandfather in the workshop for hours and hours on end. He taught me the woodworking skills and patience needed to shape and contour a guitar body using hand powered tools like a Spokeshave, a Rasp and Scrapers. These are the tools I use to shape each and every body and neck I produce. By Hand-

My shop is located in a small suburb of Miami called Leisure City Florida. I have setup a simple system here to use the power of the sun to charge my LED lighting, my computer batteries and my rechargeable tools. My finishes are either hand applied or applied using an airbrush like system for low volume and small area applications. FSC Certified Tonewoods are used in the construction of all of my guitars. Smartwood options are also available. I don't operate this way because I want to save the planet. I do it because the technology is there and I feel it is our responsibility to operate in such a way as to not waste our resources. Our children and grand children should have the same opportunity to enjoy the classic tones we have enjoyed in the music of our generation that have been created and inspired by the vintage designs and building techniques and materials used in days gone by. And besides, you'll never beat the price for this kind of quality or hand crafted perfection. This I can guarantee!
