Domenico Bertoletti was born in Ala, Trento (Italy) in 1958 and from an early age had a passion for woodwork, and, in fact, became a carpenter. His meeting, in 1978, with the lutermarker Abele Naldi, directed his interest towards the world of guitars and lutes. In 1979 he made his first instument and from then began a long journey which would lead him to the study of the most sophisticated manufacturing and acoustic techniques.

Over the years, Domenico Bertoletti was dedicated tho the production of Rennaissance and Baroque instruments, build following the most complex historical canons; the carving of roses, the constuction of staves, the knowledge of the materials, all of which contribute to the fame of his instruments. With his reputation well established, he decided to concentrate on the philological research,examining the structure and the acoustics of classical guitars, experimenting with the constructive analysis of instruments made by lutemakers who had made history: Guadagnini, Torres, Hauser, Fleta, Ramirez...

The study and experience maturated over time have shaped the particular characteristics of Domenico's instruments; the careful selection of woods to woods to be used, the use of traditional methods. The most advanced construction techniques and innovations give his guitars a clear pliable sound of mature beauty ready to express the more dynamic and expressive inflections. Each one of Domenico's guitars is unique, every one enhanced by special features and finishes, varyng in the type and use of high quality wood.
