Burns / Split Sound 6 String Bass / 1963 / Sunburst / Guitar

Burns 1963 Split Sound 6 String Bass

This six-string bass is an adaptation of the Burns Split-Sonic guitar, and a good example of the evolution that took place within two years. This is in all respects a 'mature' bass not only in length - 102 centimeters - and weight - 4.0 pounds, but the finish beautifully Redburst polyester paint finish.

Besides the high quality components there were still missing a number of patented Burns inventions. Think of the worm wheel truss rod adjustment, Split Sound elements and the Cradle Floating tremolo. The price reflected the quality: 120 pounds in 1963.

The head has a 'batwing' (bat) design and comes with Van Ghent tuners with chromed metal wings. The model name is engraved in white letters underneat a transparent plate. The maple neck has a light C profile and a super tight scale for a 63 inche bass. It has a good quality rosewood fingerboard with 21 frets, ex the usual zero fret. There are pearl colored dots used as position markers and the neck has white plastic binding on both sides.

Comes with case.
