C. F. Martin & Co / 000-18 / 1947 / Natural Finish / Guitar For Sale

This example was built in 1947, one of a total of 577 000-18's shipped that year. It incorporates typical post-war Martin style 18 features including nice mahogany on the back and sides, a great straight-grained spruce top, Brazilian rosewood fingerboard and bridge and tortoise celluloid body binding. The neck is mahogany with a fairly slim "C" profile, the fingerboard inlay is mixed size dots and the tuners are open back individual Grover with metal buttons. This is a very rare example having Martin era "Tapered" braces used only just post-Scalloped braces thru 1949. This 000 has seen some use, has a perfect replacement Tortoise pickgard & has been over sprayed w/some clear many years ago. Its headstock logo appears to be original but was sanded down around the logo prior to this clear coat. Its weather checked all over. We have just had the neck reset perfectly & she was refretted to play perfectly...it is an excellent fingerpicker's instrument but also has a lot of punch and clarity as a straight rhythm machine as well. Its got no cracking anywhere & is ready to play & enjoy. Overall she's very good & comes in a decent generic case.
