C. F. Martin & Co / 1-26 / 1850 / Guitar
We offer a real rarity here. A Martin who is incredibly old, from the early days of the company. It comes with the original and breathtaking looking coffin case!
For the top of this guitar a nice piece of spruce with a very straight grain was used. The back and sides are made of high quality and very nice Brazilian rosewood.
This 1-26 sounds really great. An incomparable sound you won’t find on today’s guitars. This is the right choice for all who are looking for a special sound experience.
As everyone can imagine, the approximately 180 years of natural aging of a guitar are noticeable. This small guitar has an impressively beautiful sound that is both powerful and warm. Hard to describe – it is not everyday that we hold such a really antique marting guitar in our hands.
The guitar is in good condition for old age. It has certainly experienced many stories, but has survived surprisingly well all these years. Obviously a Neckreset was made once – the action is very good. The whole guitar has been restored and refinished
Inside there are some stamps which guarantee the authenticity of this instrument. The guitar is a 1-26 (Parlour) version.
The neck is straight, the frets are in good condition and the action is super low – no neckreset is to be feared and it is ready for the next 180 years.
Vintage Guitar World, Germany
Vintage Guitar World was founded out of a deep passion for guitar playing and the lifelong search for truly special sound. For us, selling guitars is far more than a profession – it is a way of life. We love guitars, live music, and the stories that great instruments carry with them.
We specialize in classical guitars, flamenco guitars, and acoustic steel-string guitars. As our name suggests, our main focus is on vintage and historically significant instruments, but we also offer outstanding modern guitars by exceptional makers. Our goal is always the same: to present our customers with unique, high-quality guitars that stand out clearly in tone, character, and craftsmanship.
Every guitar we offer is carefully selected for its sound and musical qualities. No instrument enters our shop by chance. We believe that a great guitar must inspire the player from the very first note, whether it is a rare vintage piece or a modern handmade instrument.
Before any guitar is offered for sale, it is thoroughly checked and professionally adjusted. We work closely with experienced guitar builders and specialized repair shops to ensure that each instrument is structurally sound, optimally set up, and ready to be played at its full potential. Transparency and trust are essential to us, and we always describe instruments honestly and in detail.
