C. F. Martin & Co / DX1 (USA) / 2002 / Satin / Guitar

Welcome,

Here we have a players piece from the stable of Martin guitars USA.

This is a USA DX1, becoming increasingly hard to find, especially in UK.

The USA versions seems to be completely better all round guitars than the newer Mexican factory ones, for a variety of reasons.

One example, the action is good, there is plenty of room on the saddle, and the bridge hasn’t been planed, if you look at the Mex versions, that is seldom the case.

Anyhow, at 20 year old there is a well deserved patina and vibe here, with the guitar having been played with honour and dedication!

So the trade off is some honest wear in favour of a really nicely open tone, it has character in all respects, especially with the classic boomy Martin tone, which has its uses, and this is a great first step up to a quality dreadnought.

In fairness to the guitar, the finish is very lightly applied on the DX1 model and so does uptake more wear than a heavily lacquer guitar, however there is some pick-wear around the pickguard, and at each side of the fretboard extension, as shown, we have sealed these areas as required.

The soundboard has an interesting grain figuration across it, these are not marks or damages.

We have also fully overhauled and refurbished the guitar, and its' original Martin case, player ready.

There are no cracks, breaks or apparent repairs, the hardware is all original.

The frets are in good order with no visible wear and have been levelled a time or two in the past yet plenty of use left, no issues.

Action has been set to Martin factory specs, and the guitar plays very well for flat-picking styles, with a good amount (more than average) of saddle room to lower and adjust to your preferences, or we can set the guitar for you at no cost.

These are becoming more sought after due to the ridiculous prices of D28’s these days to be fair, and the tone of this sweetheart is not a million miles away either!

Over to you for another twenty years of sonic beauty!

Enjoy!
