A Truly Unique Example:

Among approximately 50 of these early '80s '62 Reissues handled personally by the consignor—and several hundred observed over the years—this guitar stands alone as the only example encountered featuring a flamed maple neck. Combined with the desirable and relatively rare Lake Placid Blue finish, this represents an exceptionally uncommon find.

Why These Early Reissues Matter:

Introduced in 1982 alongside the '52 Telecaster and '57 Stratocaster Reissues, these guitars marked Fender's return to pre-CBS standards of materials and craftsmanship. Most significantly, they brought back nitrocellulose lacquer finishes, which allow the wood's natural resonance to shine and age beautifully over time—unlike polyurethane finishes.

This guitar exhibits honest playing wear with appropriate patina—used but well-maintained, with the authentic vintage character that comes from decades of genuine use rather than artificial aging.
