Fender / Stratocaster / 1962 / Blond (refin) / Guitar For Sale

Now in stock. A wonderfully powerful 1962 Slab Board Strat that just sounds like a big old monster ... as you'd expect from this sought after era. I suspect that between the slab sound and the fact that it is not a featherweight (weighs in at 8 lbs 1 oz) is why it just sounds so big! The slab board really makes for a ballsy sound .. just a tad darker than the later curved boards. This one has a very old blond or what may have been Olympic white and now yellowed refinish. 3 powerful pick ups. Frets are original and in good shape and LOOK at that beautiful Brazilian board!!. Bridge, saddles, p.u. covers and block all orig. The pick ups were potted at one time on "man's eternal quest" for quiet and because of this we don't know if they are original winds on the pick ups SO we are pricing this guitar assuming they are not but the covers are right if that ads to the mystery! When played side by side with my 63 and 64 they sure sound right. . The pots have been changed as has been the 3 way switch, the knobs could be off of another old Strat (?) and the under guard shield is also newer.. The green guard looks like an original but it is a really well aged repro. The new switch is also a 3 way to remain traditional but looks to be 80s or 90s. These hardware changes are why we're not asking $13.5-14k like most slab refins and priced it under 10k.. But all the right guts are there. Orig body, neck, great pick ups , bridge, block, saddlesand tuners are all the parts that make these tone machines!! Bare's the Pre L series serial number of 78XXX. The neck date is just barely visible under the right light and you can make out the 62. The very earliest of date stamps in 1962 were often much lighter than the ones following shortly after. See pic of ANOTHER early date RIGHT NEXT TO this one so you can see how light these were to begin with and why they so easily faded but enough is still decipherable. Plus it can't be a later year with the slab.. Tuners are the original Kluson single lines and there have never been replaced. The overall product is a slamming sounding slab board at an affordable price! Comes with an early 60s brown Jazzmaster case era orig but not model specific. A screaming early strat for a great deal!!

Returns: All parties buying through the mail or offsite are allowed a 24 hour approval/inspection period on ALL guitars, unless discussed otherwise, to make sure they are keeping their purchase (but not amps to keep shipping delicate amps back and forth to a minimum and not on parts either ... too many guys doing "switcharoo's" or wrecking them trying to install them and then trying to send them back ... sorry ... you have to reap the behavior of so many others). Buyer pays shipping. Payments must be received within 5 working days of anything placed on HOLD. When you receive the guitar your 24 hour return includes 1 day to receive it and approve or not and you must contact me. Don't just put it in the mail ..... and 2 extra days (72 hours total time) to resend it and I require a tracking number back from the customer the day of shipping and gladly supply the same to customer upon request and orig sale. I do strictly adhere to these rules. I don't mean to sound tough here but you would be amazed at the liberties taken in recent past! Thanks for your understanding and adherence. ALL Outside the USA sales are final due to extended "visits" through customs and some countries laxed attitude about shipping on time.
