Gibson / ES-335 TD / 1967 / Sunburst / Guitar

This guitar is in excellent condition. Both front and back are finished in a flawless gloss finish over a a striking three tone sunburst, free of any fade and with only minor checking and marks.

The neck too has the same gloss finish, showcasing the the striking grain of the single piece mahogany. There's a couple of dings to the back of the neck and one on the front but nothing that really detracts from what is a great example of a classic guitar.

Between 1965 and 1969, Gibson changed the nut width on their guitars from 1 11/16" to 1 9/16" advertising it as a faster neck. Interestingly though the nut width is narrower, the depth is retained so it doesn't feel too small in the hand.

The rosewood fretboard is in great shape with plenty of life left in the original. The headstock shape is a little narrower than you'd expect but the finish looks correct. There are a few dings to the headstock too.

The hardware has worn very slightly though this is not extensive and doesn't detract from the look of the guitar at all.

The plastics are in great condition and the pickguard hasn't warped.

Electronically all soldier joints are undisturbed and both PAT number pickups sound superb and well balanced. Just like all of the rest of the guitar, they have never been disturbed and all solder is intact. As an added bonus, both pickups appear from the outside to be pre T-tops too.

The guitar comes with its original hardshell case which like the guitar is in superb shape.

Sonically this guitar has all the hallmarks of a great semi hollow. Acoustically there's a depth that balances out the presence giving the guitar a nice sustain. Once plugged in the patent number pickups accentuate the guitars inherent tonality, the neck pickup being a particular highlight. The bridge pickup provides a superb bite that really cuts through.

History hasn't been so kind to these later 60's guitars but hidden amongst the hearsay and preconceptions are stunning pieces like this one. Grab it before it gets away...
