Gibson / L-00 / 1936 / Sunburst / Guitar For Sale
This is a beautiful, well preserved example of a sunburst Gibson L-00 from 1936, easily one of the nicest vintage L-00's we have had in the shop so far!
This model was Gibson's most popular Depression era flat top. While the L-00 stood at the bottom of the company's guitar line in the 1930ies, it was a very well-designed instrument and offered a great value in sound.
Overall very good condition
The headstock has the original Gibson script logo in white silkscreen and the original Grover open book tuners -those are typical for 1936.
FON 772-39
Comfortable mahogany neck with a soft V shape.
RW fretboard, 14 frets to the body. Frets are in good condition. The guitar has had a neck reset. Action is comfortable
Crack free spruce top with a beautiful, original, sunburst finish with a deeper orangey center, somewhat larger than the years before, as is typical for mid 1930ies guitars. There is singly ply white celluloid binding around the top, a three ply sound hole ring and an unbound back.
Very cool original fire stripe celluloid pickguard.
There are a few professionally repaired back cracks.
Original rectangular RW bridge with a newer saddle and original small maple bridge plate.

Great sounding guitar both finger- and flat-picked, with a powerful ringing tone !
