Gibson / L-5 Wes Montgomery / 1997 / Vintage Sunburst / Guitar
What a find: a well taken care of Gibson L-5 Custom Wes Montgomery built in 1997 by the Master Luthiers of the Gibson Custom Shop under supervision of Jim Triggs. Having been in continues production since 1922, the L-5 is the pinnacle of the Gibson archtop collection, in no small part to the fact that Wes Montgomery made it his guitar of choice during his short, but highly successful career. Other players that have chosen the L-5 as their axe of choice are Tuck Andress, Lee Ritenour, Pat Martino, and Eddie Lang. Though these guitars come with a hefty price tag, the L-5 is still the Gibson guitar that many players save their pennies for as they search for the perfect (Wes Montgomery inspired) tone. The Gibson L-5 is the Holy Grail of archtops, the kind of guitar that has it all: looks, tone, playability and the patina of a history extending back to 1922 and through the hands of an amazing array of players that speaks to its versatility. Also John Mayer, Eric Clapton, Keith Richards, Django Reinhardt, Paul Simon and Scotty Moore are among the musical royalty who have used an L-5 in the studio or on stage.
Wes Montgomery is the most impartant jazz guitar player of the century. And that is an understatement! Wes had such a profound influence on any one musical genre, much less one as conspicuously diverse as jazz music. Yet in the span of just a few years in the late 1950s and early 1960s, jazz legend Wes Montgomery was able forge a body of work that is still referred to today as the most important and influential of any music ever recorded by a jazz artist. Montgomery's mastery of the guitar is well documented, and the enormous impact on his peers is recognized time and time again, from Pat Metheny to George Benson to Joe Satriani, all of whom claim Montgomery as the virtuoso who inspired them to reach new heights.
Wes ordered various L-5 version and in finally Gibson built his own master model: the L-5 Custom Wes Montgomery. The Custom Artist Model L-5 has a single "Classic 57" pickup in the neck position and an X-brace supporting the top. These features Montgomery felt helped achieve the warm guitar voice for which he loved this guitar model.

We are happy to consider Trades towards the purchase of most of our instruments. Also we do acknowledge that, due to eg. investment costs and market changes, trades usually will not give you the highest return for your instruments. On the other hand trading has its advantages:
utilize the value of your current instrument immediately
purchase that special guitar that you've been searching for, before it's sold to someone else.
save on costs in time and money of advertising and selling an instrument yourself,
eliminate the frustration and potential loss associated with inconsiderate, untruthful and possibly unscrupulous 'buyers'.
We are good at valuing instruments and make every attempt to determine fair trade values.
Our focus is on developing and maintaining long term relationships with our customers, not on one single transaction. If you are considering a trade towards one of our instruments, please call us at (046) 4497124.
A '90 days layaway' option is available on all new instruments. This is the easiest way to secure that one guitar you've been dreaming of! Simply make 3 non-refundable payments equal to 1/3 of the cost of one of our new instruments (link naar new).
The honors of this idea go to a customer of one of my well respected fellow guitar salesman. This customers came up with this brilliant idea and we decided to use it for our customers.
At any time you can trade in a new of used instrument bought from us for a more expensive instrument for the same amount you bought it. There are three precondition:
You've bought him here
the instrument is located in greater or lesser degree in the same condition
you show us the original receipt
Example: John bought a Lowden 035 for € 5500 euro in December 2010. Three month later (or two years or even 15 years later for the matter) he decides that the beautiful Rozawood Diamond-28 in Brazilian Rosewood for € 8800 in our shop is his next guitar. He pays for this baby with his current O35 and adds € 3300 (8800 - 5500). It's as simple as that!
The Upgrade Policy applies only to the original owner!
Show us the original receipt of the instrument. When bought at a different store this policy is not applicable.
The instrument should be more or less the same condition as when you bought it! Light wear, very small dents or light scratches are no problem, but a broken neck, cracks and other big changes will affect the value.
The instrument which you trade it should be at least 10% more value with a minimum of € 500.
VAT, shipping and payment costs (Paypal or Credit Card Fees) are not part of the upgrade policy.
Consignment instruments are not eligible for the upgrade policy.
This upgrade policy applies only to guitars in our stock and not "Custom Order" or "Special Order" instruments. You can only upgrade one guitar a year.
Want to know the current value of your instruments? The instrument market is ever changing, tonewood scarcity and other market factors constantly alter the value of custom, boutique and vintage instruments. Diamond Guitars can tell you exactly what your instrument is worth.

a written, dated and signed appraisal on Diamond Guitars letterhead for instruments that are physically and personally inspected by me (105 Euro)

Diamond Guitars Maintenance Package
Oasis Digital Hygrometer msrp 29,90
A guitar, or any other stringed musical instrument made of wood, is at risk of cracking when the relative humidity drops below 40%. The Oasis® Digital Hygrometer accurately measures relative humidity and can help you decide when to use your Oasis® Guitar Humidifier. Because relative humidity varies greatly, even inside your home, we recommend that you keep your hygrometer close to your instrument.
Oasis Guitar Humidfier msrp 19,99
The body of Oasis® is made from a specially designed fabric that allows water vapor (but not water) to pass through it. As the vapor transmission takes place, a vacuum is created and Oasis® shrinks to compensate for the loss of water. By watching the Oasis® shrink, you can determine when it is ready for refill. When refilling, you don't have to guess when it is full. Simply unscrew the black cap, fill with water to the top of the container and replace the cap. Once sealed, the water tight container is your first line of defense against leaks. Humigel™, the super absorbent polymer crystals inside Oasis™, are your second line of defense. Humigel™ captures up to 500 times its weight in water in an absorbent gel matrix.polish cloth
