Gibson / Les Paul 1957 RI Historic R7 / 2001 / Gold Top / Guitar

There is just something we LOVE about Gold Tops here at Thunder Road. A lot of Gibson Historic lovers refer to 2001 as being one of the BEST years for the Gibson Historic line and this guitar is a true example that confirms that belief. Here we have a well loved and played 2001 Historic Gibson Les Paul 1957 Reissue. This guitar is very resonant and fairly light weight (under 9 lbs) with a nice and fat 50s style neck. The neck on this one is a bit fatter than some other R7s we’ve had roll through the shop, but nonetheless it’s comfortable and provides excellent playability. The stock ’57 Classic pickups sound fantastic and throw that in the mix with an RS 50s style wiring kit it’s safe to say the tonal versatility of this guitar is great. This is a player’s grade R7 so expect some dings and dents, but nothing extreme. Comes with the original hardshell case and some case candy. No COA. All in all a great example of a 2001 Gibson Historic R7.

Year: 2001.

Model: Les Paul 1957 RI

Serial: 71525.

Finish: Gold Top.

Case: Original hardshell case.

Weight: 8 pounds 13 ounces.

Condition: Very good. Some dings, dents, and play wear throughout the guitar. Some minor worming. A small pinhead sized hole located near the bottom strap button, which looks as though it could have been used for a different strap button hole. Otherwise in good condition.

Modifications: RS 50s style wiring kit installed. Knob pointers removed. Otherwise original.

Comments: Great example of a 2001 R7.
