Gibson / Les Paul Special Cherry Original / 1960 / Guitar

This all original Gibson Les Paul Special from 1960 is nothing short of impressive. It's two original P90s (rated at 8.47K for the bridge pickup and 7.9K for the Neck) have quite a bite to them and respond great to both the volume and tone pots. The control cavity looks all original and untampered with matching the rest of the instrument (no pot codes visible). It has some expected playwear, weatherchecking, signs of use and lacquer touch ups but no signs of any significant modifications except for the dot inlay on the 7th position which looks like it has been reglued. It also plays great thanks to the newer (but not very recent) frets which still have some meat left on them and show only slight indentations primarily in the lower positions. The Les Paul Special was introduced in 1955 as a step up from the single pickup Les Paul Junior. The single cut Les Paul body shape was replaced by the Double cut design in Mid-1958. Very typical for these late 59/60 models is the neck pickup position - moved towards the bridge 1/2" to make a stronger neck joint - and the toggle switch which was moved from between the treble volume and tone pots, to in front of the treble volume pot (closer to the bridge). Also "Les Paul Special" was removed from peghead and left blank. For those who dig the double cut Les Paul shape this guitar should be very hard to resist. It is quite rare to find one of these in all original condition. Included is a 1970s Gibson hardshell case with purple interior.  Model: Les Paul Special Finish: Cherry (original) Body Material: Mahogany Top Material: None Lefty No Body Details: Black Pickguard Neck Material: Mahogany Neck Profile: C-shape Fingerboard Material: Rosewood Fingerboard Radius: 12” Neck Details: Bound fingerboard, pearl dot position markers Nutwidth: 43 mm - 1 11/16" Scale Length: 628 mm - 24 3/4" Bridge: Wraparound Tailpiece: None Pickups: P90 Tuners: Gibson 'Deluxe' Controls: 2 Volumes, 2 Tones, 3-way Switch. ABOUT US

I have always been opposed to being trapped into a job eight hours a day to purchase the free time to do what I enjoy. That’s why i started the Fellowship of Acoustics. The fellowship of acoustics was founded by Rudi Bults, Guitarist and obsessed with tone and wood. The idea was offering real expertise when trading and selling the finest instruments in the world from our showroom in Bergentheim, Netherlands. Helping others find the right tools and enjoying an atmosphere that’s unhurried, honest and informative that’s my go. We are nothing like the "supermarket" style music stores, but specialize in string-things only. We are widely known for Flattop guitars but also sell electric, mandolins & banjo’s, amps, parts, and accessories. Our store has earned the reputation for being a great place to shop for the best products and service.
It is our hope that this new website - much more than a list of "gear" for sale - will serve as an example of our commitment to offering a more personal approach, a friendly atmosphere, and an ultimately more satisfying experience for our friends and customers.
If you have any questions just dial +31-523-232205 or e-mail info@thefellowshipofacoustics.com My name is Rudi Bults, and I’m always here to help out. Wherever possible, we would recommend that you visit our store and experience our instruments and service first hand. However, because of our high standards you can be confident of ordering online from us. We hope you enjoy your visit to our site, and welcome your feedback.
