Gibson / Les Paul Standard / 1971 / Sunburst / Guitar For Sale

CONVERSION a kid ... the word it always scared me. I thought it either referred to a religious experience or an Alien abduction ..... but NO!!! :-)

As you al likely know guys are converting old 1950s and 60s One piece body Les Paul standards (gold tops w P-90s etc) to the specs of an original sunburst. Changing to humbucking pick ups, often refinishing and relicing and the main ingredient needed to start was an OLD ONE PIECE BODY. And they are going for anywhere from 20-30K+ depending on how old and what pick ups are installed. Real PAFs ad a metric f_cklton of value.

But here we have the opportunity to get the LAST bastion of the original one piece bodies at a fraction of the price. The reason being there was ONE more guitar that fit's neatly into the "conversion worty" category although .... Yes .... it's a 3 pc top.

The 1971-72 supposed 1958 Reissues (54 specs!!). One piece body, 1 piece neck, small headstock, no volute ever and all the right stuff for that journey!! Since then it has received an awesome not too cherry refin .... top only!!, Lindy Fralin RS series pick ups (almost $400/set) and some of the best PAF repros made EVER!! They added a tun-o-matic and VOILA!!! **** I DO believe that this was one of the few 1971s because the 2 readable pot codes say 7028 and they are all 4 uniform! (28th week of 1970). Frets are a little on the low side but are still VERY playable!! 4 tuners appear to be the orig "Gibson Deluxe" by Kluson and the middle tuner on each side a replacement Kluson.

There is plenty of MOJO on the orig finished back , neck and sides and a ton of weather checking on the neck with a nice big belt buckle rash, arm wear ... adding to the vintage vibe. UNLIKE many of the 58 RIs that came in at 11-12 lbs this one is a still comfortable 9+3/4 lbs (9+13 oz's).

YOU CAN REALLY HEAR THAT ONE PIECE BODY AND FOR 20-25% OF THE PRICE OF A 50S conversion.. Comes with a brown/pink newer gibson case like the R9s.

I do strictly adhere to these rules. I don't mean to sound tough here but you would be amazed at the liberties taken in recent past! Thanks for your understanding and adherence. ALL Outside the USA sales are final due to extended "visits" through customs and some countries laxed attitude about shipping on time.
