Gibson / Les Paul The Recording Guitar / 2013 / Mahogny HiGloss / Guitar

A major part of Les Pauls original vision for the solidbody electric guitar

was to incorporate features crucial to studio musicians, and that dream was

realized in the famed Les Paul Recording Model of the 1970s. The new Les Paul

Recording guitar from Gibson USAhand-crafted, American-made, and impressively

affordablepays tribute to Less original concept while adding key updates for

superior sound and performance.

The Les Paul Recording couples Gibsons legendary tone and playability with the

very best of todays electronics to create a dream instrument for studio

guitarists. Two versatile new pickups route through a premium,

industry-standard Jensen audio transformer for a balanced low-impedance output

that can go direct into pro mixers or computer audio interfaces. Or, select

the High-Z out for traditional guitar amps. Fat Tap coil splitting on each

pickup, a phase-reverse switch, and ground lift switch for the Low-Z output

dramatically extend the Les Paul Recordings versatility.

Select Grade-A mahogany and a Grade-A rosewood fingerboard, with frets over

binding for extended playing surface, form an unbeatable foundation; Grover

kidney-button tuners, a Tune-o-matic bridge, and a classic Bigsby B-7 vibrato

tailpiece provide accurate tuning with serious sustain. The high-gloss natural

nitrocellulose lacquer finish lets the woods natural beauty shine through,

while a multi-ply bound body and headstock, Custom style split-diamond

headstock inlay, and small pearloid block fingerboard inlays complete this

first-class musical instrument.

Body and Neck The Les Paul Recording is crafted in the image of the original

Les Paul Standard, with a solid mahogany back (featuring traditional weight

relief for enhanced resonance and a lighter strapped-on feel) and a carved

Grade-AA figured maple top. It has a glued-in mahogany neck with a 60s Slim

Taper profile, rosewood fingerboard with 22 cryogenic-treated frets for long

life, and traditional trapezoid inlays.

Pickups and Electronics A pair of brand new pickups pay tribute to the

originals, but with improved tone and performance. They offer a broad

frequency response and hum-free performance, with a switchable Fat Tap setting

for thick single-coil tones. Additional switches provide reverse-phase and

Low-Z ground lift options, and feed the traditional complement of independent

volume and tone controls with a three-way selector switch. A high-quality

Jensen audio transformer converts the signal to a balanced low-impedance

output for direct-to-DAW recording, while a second, High-Z output jack

accommodates traditional guitar amps.

Hardware High-quality Grover kidney-button tuners join a chrome Tune-o-matic

bridge and Bigsby B-7 vibrato tailpiece for outstanding tone and versatility.

Brief history ( A true one as well )

Shortly after opening, MUG got off to a flying start. The first customer was Jimmy Page, the guitarist of Led Zeppelin. He asked for Ernie Ball electric guitar strings and Bruce answered.

-- The only thing is....eh ..--- " We ordered them a while back, but they haven't arrived yet!"

Luckily enough, Jimmy went away satisfied with his Fender Superbullets or Sound City Strings.

However, as soon as Jimmy had left the shop, Bruce got on the phone to his trade friends in England to find out more about Ernie Ball.

It didn't take long before MUG was the agent for Ernie Ball in Sweden.
This is how Bruce started his "crusade" through Sweden and how MUG got off to a flying start.

The year was 1973. It's now 2015 and Jimmy Page probably won't ever be coming back, but we at MUG see a Jimmy Page in all our customers. This is the way it's always been.

Welcome to our website and our shop as well.
