Gibson / Lg-1 / 1949 / Sunburst / Guitar

Gibson LG-1 1949 - definitely the coolest LG-1 we had for a long time, we will explan why ...

This 1949 Gibson LG1 has that wonderful dark sunburst that Gibson did so well in the 40's, with a nice tortoiseshell pickguard, the sunburst has a cool vintage touch and has nicely aged. You can already see from the pictures that this guitar has that open and woody vintage sound you always wanted to have.

The outstanding thing on this one is, that Gibson used Adirondack spruce for the top. Insiders know exactly what that means and what difference that makes. It has a rich sound and it is open and very vintage with a strong woody nuance. We had a lot of LG-1 guitars in the past and can honestly say, that this one is the right thing for a vintage guitar lover.

Lending itself to bluesy fingerpicking, although it's very versatile, handling strumming very well, and has plenty of bite when soloing. The neck feels great, quite chunky and the action is very comfortable (had a neck reset).

The guitar has a few repairs all have been well done. Our luthier has checked the guitar and it is ready to go. The serial number (FON) has faded.

The tuners are vintage style replacements and it has a piezo pickup installed.

It comes with a newer guitar case.

Vintage Guitar World was founded out of a deep passion for guitar playing and the lifelong search for truly special sound. For us, selling guitars is far more than a profession – it is a way of life. We love guitars, live music, and the stories that great instruments carry with them.

We specialize in classical guitars, flamenco guitars, and acoustic steel-string guitars. As our name suggests, our main focus is on vintage and historically significant instruments, but we also offer outstanding modern guitars by exceptional makers. Our goal is always the same: to present our customers with unique, high-quality guitars that stand out clearly in tone, character, and craftsmanship.

Every guitar we offer is carefully selected for its sound and musical qualities. No instrument enters our shop by chance. We believe that a great guitar must inspire the player from the very first note, whether it is a rare vintage piece or a modern handmade instrument.

Before any guitar is offered for sale, it is thoroughly checked and professionally adjusted. We work closely with experienced guitar builders and specialized repair shops to ensure that each instrument is structurally sound, optimally set up, and ready to be played at its full potential. Transparency and trust are essential to us, and we always describe instruments honestly and in detail.
