Gibson / SG Standard / 1964 / Cherry / Guitar For Sale
Now available on consignment, a 1964 Gibson SG Standard in its original cherry finish.
This example has been very well played with significant play wear to the original finish, and nearly all replacement parts from decades of use.
The changes include:
- A professionally repaired heel crack with some clear overspray around the neck heel.
- The pickups have been replaced with later 60s patent # decal t-tops.
- The tuners are replica double ring/single line Kluson replacements, the remaining hardware and plastics are modern reproduction parts.
- The fingerboard/neck binding has been professionally replaced at some point with medium jumbo frets.
- 2x mini switches were installed at some point (now plugged), as well as multiple different tailpieces over the years.
- The input jack has been replaced, and the pots are later Gibson units from 1972.
Otherwise the guitar still retains its original cherry finish, 3-way switch, 3ply pickguard, and neck tenon cover. Despite the significant modifications, this guitar feels and sounds as it should with plenty of mojo and the classic medium chunky '64 neck profile.
A great player grade example of a '64 Gibson SG Standard, includes a 70s Gibson hardcase.
