Larson Brothers / Larson Maurer 562 12 Fret Rare / 1920 / Guitar

The Maurer branded guitars were like for instant Prairie state made by the Larson Brothers. Exquisite and among the top in the US. Only few made it to Europe but now and then one of these fabulous guitars pops up. The Larson brothers we're quite inventive as they made the first steel string flattop about 20 years earlier than Martin did. The Maurer guitars had a very thin top so it had to be braced properly in order to not get destructed by the pressure of steel strings tuned to standard. The brothers used laminated top braces as a solution. This Maurer model 562 is part of Larson's Best Grade series and features Brazilian rosewood back and sides. The serial number has faded so it is more difficult to date this guitar. We compared this 562 to others from the '20s and '30s and we believe that this Maurer has been made in the early '20s. The Maurer is in very good condition except for a few small repairs, Na crack on the upper bout of the top, a small crack between the bridge and pickguard, and a center seam separation. All repaired. The guitar shows playwear across the top and back, all finish is original, also the bridge is original. And except  for a changed saddle and periodic correct 'reverse' Grover tuners this guitar is all original. It might be one of the nicest out there and the playability is awesome with low action and superb tone. This guitar has seen some action in the past century and for a good reason. The sound is simply fantastic. It has a balanced tone, with a warm and rich mid-range voice that has great clarity, which makes this small guitar a full sounding instrument that competes with most bigger alternatives. The sound along with the perfectly inlaid intricate trimmings, bindings and rosette make this instrument a true piece of art.   Body Shape: Parlor/ Travel size Finish: Natural Body Material: Brazilian Rosewood Top Material: Spruce Lefty No Body Details: Ivoroid binding, herringbone/abalone trims and rosette. ABOUT US

I have always been opposed to being trapped into a job eight hours a day to purchase the free time to do what I enjoy. That’s why i started the Fellowship of Acoustics. The fellowship of acoustics was founded by Rudi Bults, Guitarist and obsessed with tone and wood. The idea was offering real expertise when trading and selling the finest instruments in the world from our showroom in Bergentheim, Netherlands. Helping others find the right tools and enjoying an atmosphere that’s unhurried, honest and informative that’s my go. We are nothing like the "supermarket" style music stores, but specialize in string-things only. We are widely known for Flattop guitars but also sell electric, mandolins & banjo’s, amps, parts, and accessories. Our store has earned the reputation for being a great place to shop for the best products and service.
It is our hope that this new website - much more than a list of "gear" for sale - will serve as an example of our commitment to offering a more personal approach, a friendly atmosphere, and an ultimately more satisfying experience for our friends and customers.
If you have any questions just dial +31-523-232205 or e-mail info@thefellowshipofacoustics.com My name is Rudi Bults, and I’m always here to help out. Wherever possible, we would recommend that you visit our store and experience our instruments and service first hand. However, because of our high standards you can be confident of ordering online from us. We hope you enjoy your visit to our site, and welcome your feedback.
