Martin / 018 / 1957 / Guitar

This 1957 Martin 0018 is a guitar that will attract attention at first sight. The guitar exudes a wonderful charm and, judging by the abundant marks on the top and soundboard, has obviously been played a lot over the years. As far as we are concerned, this is always a good sign, as it is of course always the good guitars that get played a lot! And whether this little Martin sounds good! The guitar is extremely resonant and has that typical dry and woody sound that only a vintage instrument can give you. Where one guitarist may find the many playing tracks a little too much of a good thing, others will fall for it like a log, but the fact is that these tracks are honestly earned and are inextricably linked to the guitar. They tell the story of the guitar's musical journey, and let your mind wander to the adventures this Martin must have experienced! Introduced back in 1898, the Martin 0018 had a 12-fret neck construction at the time. During the 1930s, Martin switched to the model we still know today, with a 14-fret construction in other words. The guitar features a mahogany back and sides and Sitka spruce top, supported by a non-scalloped X-bracing. The V-shaped mahogany neck has a rosewood fingerboard, as became standard on Martin's 18-series from 1940 onwards. The guitar has undergone a neck reset and refret, making it very playable. Furthermore, the bridge has been re-glued and slotted, and the guitar has been fitted with a new nut, a new bridge saddle and new bridge pins. Furthermore, a patch on the side of the body has been applied where an output was once located, and some cracks on the back of the body have also been repaired. Finally, a new bushing was applied to the G-string tuning mechanism, and a strap button was installed on the heel. On the back of the headstock, however, the original tuning machines are still in place. So this Martin 0018 is a guitar with a story, but also with an unparalleled vintage sound and ditto looks! ABOUT US

I have always been opposed to being trapped into a job eight hours a day to purchase the free time to do what I enjoy. That’s why i started the Fellowship of Acoustics. The fellowship of acoustics was founded by Rudi Bults, Guitarist and obsessed with tone and wood. The idea was offering real expertise when trading and selling the finest instruments in the world from our showroom in Bergentheim, Netherlands. Helping others find the right tools and enjoying an atmosphere that’s unhurried, honest and informative that’s my go. We are nothing like the "supermarket" style music stores, but specialize in string-things only. We are widely known for Flattop guitars but also sell electric, mandolins & banjo’s, amps, parts, and accessories. Our store has earned the reputation for being a great place to shop for the best products and service.
It is our hope that this new website - much more than a list of "gear" for sale - will serve as an example of our commitment to offering a more personal approach, a friendly atmosphere, and an ultimately more satisfying experience for our friends and customers.
If you have any questions just dial +31-523-232205 or e-mail info@thefellowshipofacoustics.com My name is Rudi Bults, and I’m always here to help out. Wherever possible, we would recommend that you visit our store and experience our instruments and service first hand. However, because of our high standards you can be confident of ordering online from us. We hope you enjoy your visit to our site, and welcome your feedback.
