I used to own a 2000 Quantum 5 and Lee has always said that it was the best sounding bass he ever heard me play. As I was looking at this bass at the Dallas Guitar show, I relayed the story to the seller and we both agreed that these Quantums are nothing short of awesome. One of the greatest active tones ever built. Maybe it's 18- volt Bartolinis of maybe it's the wood- I can't say for certain, but right about the time we were looking at this bass, Lee walked into the booth. I said the guy selling this bass, "Watch this. Lee, what was the best sounding bass I ever had?" He said, "That flamed out Modulus thing you had when you played with Ace and Rob." I just looked back at the seller and we shared a wink and a smile. I bought this beast and the deal was done, but I am by no means man enough to tackle a six- banger. It's beyond me and I get confused easily above four strings, so for the guy that's not afraid to bell the cat or tackle the tiger, this exquisite bass is a tone monster that's in exceptionally fine condition. The plastic is still on the rear electronics plate, so you can bet that it's been very well cared for. I think I'm going to name my next dog Chechen Wilson, after the wood on this bass and that broad- hipped, redneck country singer. We like both around here!
