Here we have a very rare Vox Mark IX 9-string guitar made in c.1968. Its a teardrop shaped solid body model w/a 3-tone sunburst finish. Its got a slightly wider 5 piece maple neck w/an unbound dot inlaid rosewood fingerboard. Its headstock has a very unusual shape to hold its 9 tuning machines. Its sporting 3 Single Coil Pickups that have loads of tonal variations. Its strung like no other guitar made3 having its bottom 3 Strings like a 6-String guitar & its top 3 strings are strung like a 12-String. Its got its original chrome knobs, its white pickgard & its factory tremolo complete w/its mute bar. What a cool concept – the sound of a 12 string, made more playable in a way with the E, A, and D strings being single. Its got a few issues such as 4 teeny holes in its headstock & a slight crack under its low E tuner, now repaired & does not effect its structural integrity. Its missing its back pad but retains its snaps if you’d like to make a repro pad. Overall she’s very good & works quite well. It comes complete w/what appears to be a period teardrop shaped hard case.
