Sanden Guitars / VRB Sapele (In Stock) / 2010's / Guitar

The Sapele seriesWe now introduce the new sapele series. .The sound of these guitars have a little more ”bite” than regular mahogany, and fits most kind of playing styles. We have for a long time looked for a good wood that can complement the east-indian rosewood, without sacrificing the sound and here we have found it. The quality as you can see on the pictures is just stunning, perfect quatersawn with almost flames to it. The colour is a very warm deep red to brown and together with flamed maple bindings, these guitars stands out both in sound and looks. The Sanden Guitars VRB is a Vintage Round Bell style. The well balanced, round sound and the size make the guitar very versatile. Here you will have the wellknown Sanden sound taken to perfection. The bass rings forever and the overtones in the midrange and top is something out of the ordinary. Sanden Guitars are all hand-made in Sweden by Master Luthier Michael Sanden. All Sanden Guitars are built with the highest quality wood and materials available. This VRB guitar features a sitka spruce top with beautiful sapele mahogony back and sides with flamed maple bindings on the body. The neck is laminated mahogany with an ebony fingerboard and the beautiful rosette is made from herringbone and sapele layered together. All Sanden Guitars feature a zero fret for optimal balance and intonation. The machine heads are swiss Schertler gold with ebony buttons. The VRB also comes with an on-board LR-Baggs pickup with a non-battery powered preamp .

The best material is needed to build an instrument that is pleasing to the ear, the eyes and the heart.

Slow growing wood that has been cut and dried properly is a basic requirement. Therefore, we personally choose and purchase the material each year from Germany, the United States, England and India.

Michael has learned this from the two masters he studied with, Bozo Padunavac in San Diego in 1982, where he learned to build steel-string guitars and mandolins, and then with Georg Bolin between 1984-1986, where he learned to build classical guitars.

In 1986 Michael received his Journeyman’s Certificate as a qualified builder and in 1996 he got his Master’s Certificate in guitar craftmanship. Sanden Guitars has been a member of the "Guild of American Luthiers" since 1983 and has participated in several conventions over the years.

Since 2010, Sanden Guitars is situated in Gothenburg Sweden.

Michael and Kari together owns and runs Sanden guitars. Right now Michael is doing all the building and Kari helps out where it is needed. Together they do their utmost to take care of you so that you are going to feel safe with your Sanden guitar.
