1965 L series Fender Jazz bass in very good condition. It has a beautiful custom colour Fiesta Red finish with a matching headstock. All original and 100% complete, including all solder, hardware, finish and case. This bass is a joy to play and sounds fantastic. It's resonant and fairly light weighing only 8 lbs 7.5 oz. One of the last Fender basses to get an L plate. Serial number: L99693.
The finish is in very good condition overall. There are a few small nicks and digs in the finish and a small patch of buckle rash on the back of the upper horn. There are no touch ups and no over spray. The nitro clear coat has yellowed only slightly and on a Fiesta red that yellowing leaves a slight orange hue in certain lights.
The neck is in great condition overall but does have light play-wear along the edge (G string edge) and a couple of scuffs/dings in the finish. The fingerboard and frets are in excellent condition. The bass came to us strung with flats and given that there's only minimal wear to the frets I would guess its had flats on most, if not all of it's life. The headstock is in great shape with only a few scuffs along the top edge and a couple of spots where the finish has chipped.
All hardware and electronics are in fine condition with the metalwork remaining nice and shiny. The truss rod works correctly and the neck is straight with no dead spots.
This bass has been fully set up in our workshop with a great medium/low action and a fresh set of D'addario Chrome flat-wound strings. It weighs 8 lbs 7.5 oz. Serial: L99693. The neck date is Mar 65A, the pots all date to the 20th week of 65. The pickups have original windings. The dates on them are a little hard to read. The neck pickup date appears to be 8/23/64 or 65 (august 23rd of either 64 or 65) the bridge day and month are smudged so completely illegible but the year looks to be 65. I've added a little extra sponge under both pickups to allow them to be adjusted properly as the original sponge has hardened. Nut Width: 38.1mm. Depth at 1st fret: 19.9 mm. It comes with 3-months warranty.

Installments / Layaway policy / Deposits
Payments are to be made on the dates agreed. If the customer fails to do so or pulls out of an agreed deal after 1 month has elapsed from the date of the first payment, 10% of the agreed sale price is non refundable. A further 10% will be added each consecutive month thereafter. Within the first month a 5% fee is applied. Andy Baxter Bass has the right to withdraw from any agreement and re list the item if payments are not made on the agreed dates. A 10% non refundable deposit will hold any guitar for 30 days. With installment / layaway / deposit agreements all sales are final, no returns, no refunds and no exceptions.
VAT/Duty/Customs Charges
Payable by consignee upon receipt of goods. We are not responsible for VAT, duty or customs charges.
Shipping
Shipping costs are in addition to the cost of your guitars or merchandise. ( unless otherwise stated) If you prefer, you can arrange shipping via your own preferred carrier. Shipping charges paid by Andy Baxter Bass & Guitars Ltd are non-refundable.
Returns
Merchandise is sold as is. Please ask all questions, view all pictures etc, before purchasing. We do not negotiate price after the sale. No exceptions. Just the same, if you find out that the guitar or gear doesn’t work for you, you can return it within 48 hours. Please call or email for return authorization before shipping any merchandise back. Returned merchandise must be shipped fully insured at the customer’s cost and in it’s original condition. Upon receipt of the merchandise, a refund (less shipping and any other applicable fees) will be issued within 48 hours, subject to a 5% restocking fee. The restocking fees will be waived if the instrument is damaged. ALL dealers will be charged restocking fee on returns for any reason due the the common practice of reselling. Special orders are not returnable. Amplification sent overseas is not returnable under any circumstaces unless damaged upon arrival.
