The Fender PB62-65 model is a "vintage reissue" of the iconic 1962 Precision Bass, known for its significant role in popular music history, from Motown to rock and blues. The original 1962 P-Bass featured key updates like the switch from a slab to a radius rosewood fingerboard and the classic three-tone sunburst finish option. Fender Japan began producing these high-quality reissues in the 1980s, gaining a strong reputation for their exceptional build quality and attention to detail, with many players considering the Japanese-made Fenders from this era to be better than their American counterparts at the time. This specific instrument was produced during the "Made in Japan" era at the Fujigen factory, which is particularly well-regarded among collectors and players. These reissues are notable for their close adherence to vintage specifications, including a 7.25" fingerboard radius and a slimmer neck profile compared to later "Crafted in Japan" models.
