Fender / Vibrolux 5F11 Narrow Panel Tweed Amp / 1959 / Tweed / Amp For Sale

Up for your consideration is this legendary and collectible narrow panel 1959 Fender Vibrolux 5F11 in tweed fabric covering finish. Made in Fullerton, California.

Production number on tube chart: 1411

The amp even comes with the original Victoria Luggage cover and the super rare wooden footswitch!

The circuit is original with only 2 changed high-quality filter capacitors. The amp also comes complete with a vintage tube set - RCA and Sylvania. This tweed amplifier delivers the classic tweed tone with incredible dynamics, harmonic richness, and tonal clarity.

The chassis, knobs, and chrome control plate with white lettering are very clean.  The stock metal handle ends and the original handle is also in great shape. The gray two-prong power has been changed but comes with the amp.

The original Alnico Jensen P10R 10″ speaker works perfectly with a clean green/blue frame, original bell cover, and clean Jensen label. The original lacquered tweed is in great shape, showing light ambering and some minor scuffs and wear, primarily on the lower left corner of the enclosure and bottom of the amp. The original Oxblood grill cloth is tight, with 2 small burn marks.

The original tube chart is very clean hand-inked serial number.

Chart date II: September 1959.
Chassis stamp II: September 1959.
Speaker date Code 220815: 15th week, 1958.
Serial number: F02364.

The 1950s tweed Vibrolux is a very different animal than its more common Tolex-era descendant. As stated above the original 10" Jensen speaker has a stamped code 220 815.

This version of the Vibrolux is still a relatively compact combo amp with one 10" speaker putting out about 10 watts. The circuit is basically the same as the tweed Harvard with a tremolo feature added, on introduction in 1956 this was the smallest Fender amp with built-in tremolo. Unlike the 6AT6/6AV6 first stage found in the Harvard, the Vibrolux uses the dual-triode 12AX7, with the added half powering the tremolo. The rest of the circuit is virtually identical.

Like the Harvard, and unlike many other contemporary Tweed models like the Deluxe, the Vibrolux is a fixed-bias amp, allowing it to have surprisingly high headroom and volume for a dual 6V6 layout. This original Vibrolux was on the edge of the student/professional grade amp dividing line in the 1950s but offers plenty of volume for most small gigging and recording situations today, with a tone that's hard to beat.

Voltage converter has been installed so it can run 230V without modifications to the amp circuit.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Fender Vibrolux Tweed is a guitar amplifier produced by Fender in the late 1950s. The particular model you mentioned, the 1959 Fender Vibrolux Tweed, is considered by many to be one of the best-sounding and most desirable of all vintage Fender amplifiers.

The Vibrolux Tweed is a 35-watt amp with two 6L6 power tubes and four 12AX7 preamp tubes. It has a pair of 10" Jensen Alnico speakers and features a spring reverb, a bright switch, and a vibrato circuit. The tweed covering gives it a classic and vintage look.

The 1959 Fender Vibrolux Tweed is highly valued by collectors and guitar players alike for its warm and rich tone, which is characterized by a smooth overdrive and a natural compression. The spring reverb and the vibrato add depth and dimension to the sound, making it a versatile amp suitable for a wide range of music genres.

Due to the age and popularity of this amp, it can be difficult to find an original 1959 Fender Vibrolux Tweed in good condition. They can be very expensive, and you may have to pay a premium for one that is in good working condition.
