Gibson / B-25 RARE COLOR CHERRY / 1968 / Cherry Red Rare / Guitar For Sale
Gibson's small body acoustic lineage is something most of us are familiar with because they were relatively affordable therefore making them popular. Starting with the entry level all mahogany LG-0 and working it's way up the LG-1, 2 and 3 series.
Mid 60s would find a new name that would encompass the LG-1s, 2's and 3's and wrapped them up into the model B-25.
What sets this one aside is that you every so often (RARELY) see these and the J-45s in a custom color of either Cherry or Black with a white pick guard instead of the standard black or tortoise guards traditionally used making them look SO handsome and dressed up for a night out on the town. This 100% original particular B-25 sports the rare cherry finish for this model and moreover is in gorgeous condition but for a little weather checking and a couple of nicks (see the back of the neck).
Amazing action with a WOODEN adjustable bridge as opposed to the simulated earlier ones making for the best tonal combo. We are leaving this 100% original but recommend a reversible bone saddle for max volume and tone!! The mahogany is also beautiful. Look at that back!!It is marked with a factory "2" but like so many old Gibson's only God knows why. In reality I DO KNOW from being in the music store retail biz back in the 1970s that Gibson rep would come in and tell us that when they had large back stock of certain models one way to clear them out was to mark them as "2s" and then they sold them to dealers at tremendous discounts. This may be the reason we see so many of them with no evidence of why.
This guitar bears the serial # of 600XXX which on these models could be 66,67 or 68 but almost ALL of these cherry custom mades i have seen over the years were 1968. I took both flash and non flash pics because it is a custom color to give you the full effect. Comes with the original late 60s soft shell case!
