Gibson / J45 Cherry Sunburst / 1967 / Guitar

Introduced in 1942 as a replacement for the J-35, the J-45 has since become one of Gibson's most popular acoustic flattops. Earning a reputation as a "workhorse" guitar, the J-45 was embraced for its no-frills attitude and big, strong tone. This J45 was built in 1967, so it has got some of the adjustments that Gibson made to the model since 1942 like the 'belly up' bridge, bigger pickguard, and the adjustable bridge saddle that became the standard in 1961. In terms of sound it shows its unique character with a lovely warm, vintage and sweet character perfect for vocal accompaniment and great for recording. The firm C-shaped mahogany neck with its rosewood fretboard and 24.75 inch scale length plays like butter. This workhorse offers everything any guitarist could ask for. This guitar shows its age through the stunning weatherchecking, beautiful discolored bindings, the worn lacquer and playwear. Furthermore she is crack free and contains this almost completely original Gibson so also her lived, original finish. The tuning mechanisms of this Gibson are not 'the usual' Kluson 3-on-a-plate mechanisms. That is because of the disagreement Gibson had with Kluson in 1967, which meant they temporarily had to find another supplier. These Japanese Teisco mechanisms are therefore 100% original and have only been used in a short period of time. Unfortunately one of these tuners broke along the way and has been replaced by a vintage alternative.   Specifications Body Shape: Slope Shoulder Jumbo Finish: Cherry Sunburst Dimensions: Lower bout : 407 mm - 16.02" Depth        : 125 mm - 4.92 Body Material: Solid Mahogany Top Material: Solid Sitka Spruce Handedness: Right-handed Body Details: Long Tortoise Pickguard, Cream Bindings Neck Material: Mahogany Neck Profile: C-Shape Fingerboard Material: Rosewood Fingerboard Radius: 12" Neck Details: Pearl Dot Inlay Nutwidth: 40 mm - 1.47" Scale Length: 624 mm - 24.5" String spacing: 52,9 mm - 2.07" Bridge: Rosewood Tuners: Open Back Tuners Pickup: None Condition: Very Good Cosmetic Condition: Weatherchecking and worn lacquer on body, neck and headstock. I have always been opposed to being trapped into a job eight hours a day to purchase the free time to do what I enjoy. That’s why i started the Fellowship of Acoustics. The fellowship of acoustics was founded by Rudi Bults, Guitarist and obsessed with tone and wood. The idea was offering real expertise when trading and selling the finest instruments in the world from our showroom in Bergentheim, Netherlands. Helping others find the right tools and enjoying an atmosphere that’s unhurried, honest and informative that’s my go. We are nothing like the "supermarket" style music stores, but specialize in string-things only. We are widely known for Flattop guitars but also sell electric, mandolins & banjo’s, amps, parts, and accessories. Our store has earned the reputation for being a great place to shop for the best products and service.
It is our hope that this new website - much more than a list of "gear" for sale - will serve as an example of our commitment to offering a more personal approach, a friendly atmosphere, and an ultimately more satisfying experience for our friends and customers.
If you have any questions just dial +31-523-232205 or e-mail My name is Rudi Bults, and I’m always here to help out. However, because of our high standards you can be confident of ordering online from us. We hope you enjoy your visit to our site, and welcome your feedback.
