Gibson / J45 Legend Prototype Sunburst 2006 / 1942 / Guitar

This Gibson J45 Legend Prototype was destined for the Japanese market and it is one of the finest recreations of a prewar J-45 that Gibson has issued. One of the very first Legend’s for the Japanese Market, initially ordered by the Japanese distributor-dealer Yamano Music. These are meticulously built and are very much like an authentic 1940s J-45, light in weight and have that bone dry prewar sound and volume. It is build out of select Honduras Mahogany for the back and sides with an Adirondack top and Adirondack braces, fully hot hide glue constructed. It has a hand filling ’42 style ‘bat’ neck out of honduras mahogany and for the fretboard Madagascar rosewood was used to add a vintage-like dark edge to the sound. It has appealing créme/black bindings and a créme-black-créme rosette, bone nut and saddle and a distinguishing teardrop shaped firestripe pick guard. Placed over the finish, and not under, to prevent shrinkage issues. This Gibson J45 Legend Prototype is in excellent condition, it has some pick wear, a group of some dents on the bass side lower bout and the pickguard seems to have been replaced which has resulted in some light wear. Travels in a newer Gibson case.  Specifications Body Shape: Slope Shoulder Jumbo Finish: Sunburst Body Material: Honduras Mahogany Top Material: Adirondack Spruce Lefty No Body Details: Maple body bindings w/ black/white trim, 3-ring black/white rosette, hide glue construction Neck Material: Honduran Mahogany Neck Profile: firm C-shape Fingerboard Material: Rosewood Fingerboard Radius: 12” Neck Details: dot inlays Nutwidth: 44.5 mm - 1 3/4" Scale Length: 628 mm - 24 3/4" String spacing: 56 mm - 2 3/16" Bridge: Rosewood w/ long saddle Tuners: Waverly reissue 3-on-a-plate tuners - original in the case.  Pickup None Condition: Excellent Cosmetic Condition: Light playwear only Modifications/ Repairs: None Tech Notes: None Travels in: Luxury original Gibson hardshell case Accessories: None

I have always been opposed to being trapped into a job eight hours a day to purchase the free time to do what I enjoy. That’s why i started the Fellowship of Acoustics. The fellowship of acoustics was founded by Rudi Bults, Guitarist and obsessed with tone and wood. The idea was offering real expertise when trading and selling the finest instruments in the world from our showroom in Bergentheim, Netherlands. Helping others find the right tools and enjoying an atmosphere that’s unhurried, honest and informative that’s my go. We are nothing like the "supermarket" style music stores, but specialize in string-things only. We are widely known for Flattop guitars but also sell electric, mandolins & banjo’s, amps, parts, and accessories. Our store has earned the reputation for being a great place to shop for the best products and service.
It is our hope that this new website - much more than a list of "gear" for sale - will serve as an example of our commitment to offering a more personal approach, a friendly atmosphere, and an ultimately more satisfying experience for our friends and customers.
If you have any questions just dial +31-523-232205 or e-mail My name is Rudi Bults, and I’m always here to help out. Wherever possible, we would recommend that you visit our store and experience our instruments and service first hand. However, because of our high standards you can be confident of ordering online from us. We hope you enjoy your visit to our site, and welcome your feedback.
