Gibson / J45 Re Top / 1966 / Guitar

Introduced in 1942 as a replacement for the J-35, the J-45 has since become one of Gibson's most popular acoustic flattops. Earning a reputation as a "workhorse" guitar, the J-45 was embraced for its no-frills attitude and big, strong tone. Several variations of the J-45 have been released over the years including its natural-finish counterpart, the J-50. This 1966 J45 underwent a brilliant restauration done by our friends over at Rozawood in Czechia. The top was replaced by a newer premium grade spruce top (including the bracing and bridgeplate) with a nice dark sunburst finish and tasteful aging to match the original back, sides and neck. The rosewood adjustable bridge is newer using some original pieces of hardware, the pickguard is newer, the neck has been reset and fitted with new frets, two cracks in the side and back of the body have been repaired and both the body and the neck have received a thin layer of overspray. Beneath the overspray some expected signs of use are visible qualifying this instrument as being in "Good" condition. Most importantly however is that it plays and sounds brilliant, the new top needs some more hours of playtime but it is already clear that the warm, vintage and dry character of the instrument has been retained throughout the restauration process. The nutwidth is 40,5mm (1 9/16") which is certainly on the narrow side, not an insurmountable issue but good to keep in mind if you are considering buying this instrument. One of the many advantages of the restoration is that it has added a lot in the way of reliability and playability. Where an entirely original speciment might come with a host of issues, this one has received a proper setup and is technically 100% perfect. While they were at it Rozawood also built in a K&K pure mini pickup for an optimal amplified representation of the lovely tonal character of this instrument. Included is a newer hardshell case. ABOUT US

I have always been opposed to being trapped into a job eight hours a day to purchase the free time to do what I enjoy. That’s why i started the Fellowship of Acoustics. The fellowship of acoustics was founded by Rudi Bults, Guitarist and obsessed with tone and wood. The idea was offering real expertise when trading and selling the finest instruments in the world from our showroom in Bergentheim, Netherlands. Helping others find the right tools and enjoying an atmosphere that’s unhurried, honest and informative that’s my go. We are nothing like the "supermarket" style music stores, but specialize in string-things only. We are widely known for Flattop guitars but also sell electric, mandolins & banjo’s, amps, parts, and accessories. Our store has earned the reputation for being a great place to shop for the best products and service.
It is our hope that this new website - much more than a list of "gear" for sale - will serve as an example of our commitment to offering a more personal approach, a friendly atmosphere, and an ultimately more satisfying experience for our friends and customers.
If you have any questions just dial +31-523-232205 or e-mail info@thefellowshipofacoustics.com My name is Rudi Bults, and I’m always here to help out. Wherever possible, we would recommend that you visit our store and experience our instruments and service first hand. However, because of our high standards you can be confident of ordering online from us. We hope you enjoy your visit to our site, and welcome your feedback.
