Gibson / L0 Black VG / 1941 / Guitar

Vintage and original Gibson L0 in black dating back to approx. 1940-1941. The FON number is somewhat unclear. The L00 and L0 models were a great success on the depression era mostly because of the low price tag and great sound. The difference between the L00 and L0 is actually simple: The L-00 was the plainest, only came with top binding, while the L0 also had a back binding and (only sometimes) fingerboard binding (pre-1931), sometimes the L0 came with individual tuners while the L00 always came with 3-one-a-plate waverly, another difference was the "gold Gibson" stencil peghead logo (typically Gibson again: "only sometimes") instead of the white logo. before 1934 the back of the L-0 was sometimes slightly arched. This specific instrument is a wonderful example of one of Gibson's most popular L-series guitars in the pre-war period. The guitar has all 1940s specifications such as a 14.75 "wide body, 14-fret, a not so strong V-shaped mahogany neck, Adirondack spruce top with black finish, X bracing, mahogany body, bindings to back and top, firestripe pickguard rectangular Brazilian rosewood bridge and fingerboard with dot inlay and "Gibson" logo on the head plate. The original tuners are working but rough. (we advise a set of perfect replica tuners we have in stock.) The condition of this guitar is as we describe it "Very good", with repairs, including some back- top and side cracks that are well repaired but visible. The guitar already had a neck reset, and is very well playable, with good action, lots of meat on the saddle and a great vintage sound. A type of sound that gets to you! Completely original finish, no overspray. 628 mm scale and 44.5 mm nut width, approx. 59 mm string spacing at the saddle. Newer case included

ABOUT US

I have always been opposed to being trapped into a job eight hours a day to purchase the free time to do what I enjoy. That’s why i started the Fellowship of Acoustics. The fellowship of acoustics was founded by Rudi Bults, Guitarist and obsessed with tone and wood. The idea was offering real expertise when trading and selling the finest instruments in the world from our showroom in Bergentheim, Netherlands. Helping others find the right tools and enjoying an atmosphere that’s unhurried, honest and informative that’s my go. We are nothing like the "supermarket" style music stores, but specialize in string-things only. We are widely known for Flattop guitars but also sell electric, mandolins & banjo’s, amps, parts, and accessories. Our store has earned the reputation for being a great place to shop for the best products and service.
It is our hope that this new website - much more than a list of "gear" for sale - will serve as an example of our commitment to offering a more personal approach, a friendly atmosphere, and an ultimately more satisfying experience for our friends and customers.
If you have any questions just dial +31-523-232205 or e-mail info@thefellowshipofacoustics.com My name is Rudi Bults, and I’m always here to help out. Wherever possible, we would recommend that you visit our store and experience our instruments and service first hand. However, because of our high standards you can be confident of ordering online from us. We hope you enjoy your visit to our site, and welcome your feedback.
