Gibson / SJ-200 / 1951 / Sunburst / Guitar
Ohh man, what a beast ... this SJ-200 from 1951 really is a killer guitar ... The true king of the Flattops!
Up for grabs is this 1951 Gibson SJ-200 in Tobacco Sunburst finish. You just need trust us here: this is the best sounding SJ-200's we've ever come across!
It sounds how you always want these to sound and sometimes never do: high volume, big bottom end, with beautiful clarity (NOT THIN).
It has a low action and plays like a dream. Very comfortable & easy playing medium C profile neck.
Yes it's beaten up (to say the least)....but the great ones always seem to be! What makes the guitar really interesting, is even though the serial and FON date to '51, it has some late 40's spec's. Which include it being single x-braced, (as opposed to double x-braced, which they switched to in '52), and the side of the headstock gets thinner at the top (which changed in 1951).
It is in all original condition, except the finish of the sides ... they have professionally been refinished, true to the original. The guitar has battle scars all over, but surprisingly only a few repaired cracks. Those are old repairs and very well done.
Our luthier has checked the guitar and it is ready to go!
It comes with a very nice vintage style case.
This guitar has all the magic you have ever dreamed of ... a true gem!
Vintage Guitar World, Germany
Vintage Guitar World was founded out of a deep passion for guitar playing and the lifelong search for truly special sound. For us, selling guitars is far more than a profession – it is a way of life. We love guitars, live music, and the stories that great instruments carry with them.
We specialize in classical guitars, flamenco guitars, and acoustic steel-string guitars. As our name suggests, our main focus is on vintage and historically significant instruments, but we also offer outstanding modern guitars by exceptional makers. Our goal is always the same: to present our customers with unique, high-quality guitars that stand out clearly in tone, character, and craftsmanship.
Every guitar we offer is carefully selected for its sound and musical qualities. No instrument enters our shop by chance. We believe that a great guitar must inspire the player from the very first note, whether it is a rare vintage piece or a modern handmade instrument.
Before any guitar is offered for sale, it is thoroughly checked and professionally adjusted. We work closely with experienced guitar builders and specialized repair shops to ensure that each instrument is structurally sound, optimally set up, and ready to be played at its full potential. Transparency and trust are essential to us, and we always describe instruments honestly and in detail.
