Harmony / H-70 Meteor / 1960 / Natural / Guitar For Sale
A classic, affordable USA made vintage semi-hollow guitar from the Harmony brand. These offer excellent value in the vintage market - The quality of materials is really good as you can see from the beautifully figured Maple body and tight grained Spruce top. The construction, although basic, is very robust and overall these make for a fantastic entry into the vintage world.
This model was used by the likes of Keith Richards adn Dave Davies in their early days. It differs from the rest of Harmony's semi-hollow guitars thanks to it's Spruce top which offers a richer sound with more harmonics versus Maple. Accompanied by two DeArmond Gold foil Moustache pickups it's a very nice sounding guitar! The bridge pickup is on the weaker side output wise so there is a volume drop when switching from the neck pickup. Playability wise the neck si full in the hand giving a solid, robust and reassuring feel. There are some dowels on the first fret that were installed to reinforce an old headstock break but this is stable and the quality of repair is good.
Visually the guitar's natural finish has honeyed very nicely, and with the figured woods, cool appointments such as the 4-ply tort/celluloid pickguard, multiply binding to the top and back of the body, and use of the stinger on the back of the headstock, this is a great looking instrument!
