Fender / Esquire / 1954 / Blonde / Guitar

Beautiful and superb feeling, looking and playing, classic late 1954, Blackguard Esquire which has had a perfect Clive Brown body only refin that is a true work of art, by probably the finest in the business...

Here is everything I know about this very fab guitar:

Original 1954 body dated in the neck pocket either 1/54 or 11/54. It looks like a 11/54 but it could be 1/54 with a splurge, it is difficult to read. Tape in the control cavity signed by Gloria and dated x/11/54. Body is masterfully refinished and relic'd by Clive Brown, there has been no over sanding that I can see and some original paint is present in the cavities and neck pocket.

Neck finish is all original 1954 as is the decal. Tuners are single line Klusons. As you can see the wear on the fingerboard looks fantastic and is 100% natural. This guitar has been played and for a very good reason. Neck date is in red pencil and looks to be 2/54. Neck profile is classic fairly chunky 1954 with a hint of 'V'. It is not a baseball bat neck and in my opinion, 1954 Tele's have one of the very best neck profiles out there...

Original flat pole and brilliant sounding pickup, Volume pot has some original solder and may be original but the date is obscured by solder. The tone pot is 1955 so may heave been replaced soon after the guitar was made, maybe even under warranty?

Original bridge with one of the highest 5 figure serial numbers I have seen on a bridge plate - 5164 making this a real late 54 and probably one of the last stamped blackguard type bridges used.

Pickguard is a Clive Brown replica and it is so good most people would not even know it was a replica - it even black lights correctly and here is the scary thing, give this guitar another 10/15 years of UV absorption and I think it will be pretty much impossible to distinguish from an all original one...

Playing wise, it is my personal joint favourite of all my stock at the moment and I struggle to put it down. It is nice and light at 3.35Kg and resonates really well acoustically just like the best Tele/Esquire's do.

Included is a very nice, re-issue 1954 Fender poodle case which completes a super package at a very reasonable price. This is one guitar I know I will regret selling...
