Fender / Precision Bass / 1966 / Sunburst / Bass For Sale
Beautiful, zero issues, 1966 Fender P-Bass that’s a light weight, still a vibrant sunburst and has its original case. That’s a good base of attributes to have in a vintage bass.
Born in early 1966 this all correct Fender Precision Bass is a delight to play and has survived the years with very few battle scars and very little wear. There is some buckle rash on the back and a few dings and dongs in places but overall, it is an excellent example that has all original solder, hardware and electrics.
It is currently fitted with flat wounds and judging by the lack of wear on the superbly dark fingerboard, it has more than likely been fitted with flat wounds for most of its life. Original frets are too lacking any real signs of wear which all goes to enhance the very pleasant playing experience this bass will provide you with.
The back of the neck is mildly smooth with typical, play wear and has none of the stickiness encountered when playing a newly lacquered neck. It is after all, 53 years of age but it has held its own very well throughout the years.
Neck date is Feb 1966 so it is an early 1966 model and still has the nice earlier sunburst finish and a nitrate, tortoiseshell guard. Both pots date from the 18th week of 1966 and serial number marked it as early/mid 1966 so all numbers and dates nicely match up.
Correct case is in good condition, just like the bass itself and all latches close and work great.
If you are looking for a transitional P Bass then this one is probably going to tick many of the boxes you need and it is always a nice thing when we come across one that is so original as this one is…
