Slab board, stipped finish 1961 Fender Stratocaster with a killer neck, recently refretted and playing great!
The original sunburst finish has been stripped and relacquered, revealing an Alder body with a nice grain pattern. It's developed a nice patina and appears to have been done some time ago. The neck is a beautifully figured piece of Maple with desirable slab fingerboardand clay dot inlays. The neck profile is a comfortable medium D offering plenty of support without being too chunky. It's been refretted with jumbo frets by Eternal Guitars and fitted with a new nut so it plays beautifully across the board. It's also nice and lightweight, with excellent acoustic resonance.
The guitar has had a few changes over the years in keeping with it's player grade status: the tuners are replacements, the volume pot has been changed, the middle pickup route has been enlarged and the wiring redone. It's currently fitted with a repro guard, though a period-correct mint green guard is included in the case. All three black bottom pickups have been rewound, and they sound fantastic - full of that dry, woody Strat tone, with punch and clarity in every position.
This is a great playing Strat that's hard to put down. The balance, response, playabilty and feel all line up. A proper vintage workhorse with looks, tone, and a great neck. Comes in a period-correct brown Fender Tolex hard case.
