Fender / Stratocaster / 1968 / Sunburst / Guitar For Sale

This guitar has seen some life. The red has faded almost completely from the top, a phenomena we’ve encountered before with guitars of a similar age. There are the obligatory wear marks, bumps and knocks with a substantial patch of buckle rash on the back. There are no signs of touch up or overspray on the neck or the body.

The neck has worn comfortably, the fretboard having been refretted reasonably recently and showing no signs of excessive wear. The headstock is in good shape as is the logo  which is still strong.

The plastics are correct and in good shape though they have faded somewhat.

The pickups are correct Grey Bottom and we have no reason to believe these are not the original pickups but the guitar has probably had other pickups in at some stage. The pots are dated February 1966. The selector is a later five way switch and there is a foil shielding plate under the original, pearloid back pickguard around the controls  but we can remove this for you free of charge if required.

Hardware is correct and is in reasonable condition showing some corrosion.

The guitar comes with its correct mid - late 60's hardshell case.

Many of those classic Strat tones live in these mid-60’s guitars and the grey bottom pickups. These guitars really deliver a fantastic tone that hasn’t yet drifted too far towards the thinner end of the spectrum and still retains some of the fullness of the earlier incarnation Fender single coils.

A good looking and playing guitar with a classic late 60s tone, this will not hang around for long…
