Fender / Stratocaster / 1969 / Candy Apple Red / Guitar

A late 1969 1970 crossover Custom Colour Strat in beautiful and unfaded, Candy Apple Red with a nice figured neck at a half reasonable price due to a couple of minor issues...

Superb condition and very much unfaded (both body and neck). A great example with quite a flamed neck on it which you sometimes see around this period. Beautiful Candy Apple Red custom colour, original finish is deep dark and strong with it's gold undercoat showing in some of the relatively few dings this guitar has.

Serial number dates 1969, all 3x CTS pots date to 24th week of 1969. As can be typical of this period, neck stamp has faded to what remains of a feint green smudge which is only evident under magnification. Body routing has the squared off type of pickup routes you see in late '69.

Pickguard has the correct faux mother of pearl backing and all three pickups are the late 69 early 70 purple/grey ish bobbins with original windings. All wiring is plastic aside from two small green and yellow cloth coloured wires, one on the switch link and the other to one of the tone pots. Seems they did not like to waste much at the Fender factory!

Issues I am aware of - at some stage it has had a different pickguard on as there is one extra small screw hole between the middle and neck pickup and the pots, even though they date to 1969, are not the type of CTS pots you normally see on Strats from this period.

Very nice player, hardly any wear on the original frets, I think this has been hidden inside it's case for a fair old while. All three pickups are nice and strong, evenly balanced with classic Hendrix tones.

Nice weight of 3.4Kg and medium C shape neck profile. As always, plenty of internal pics are available to anyone seriously interested.

If you like your Candy Apple Red 4 bolts, and who wouldn't, then this is a very nice example....
