Fender / Telecaster / 1968 / Black / Guitar
This 1968 Fender Telecaster really ups the style factor with maple cap neck, factory black finish and all the chrome hardware.
This impressive factory black finish shows some signs of wear though this does add to the overall look of the guitar. The maple cap neck is in good condition. Worn comfortably at the back, the front only shows very slight signs of wear. Fret wear is as expected with plenty of life left in the frets.
The hardware is in great shape. There is very slight signs of corrosion on the saddles and there’s wear on the Bigsby but elsewhere everything looks good. Electronically all solder joints look undisturbed.
The guitar comes with a Fender Custom shop hardshell case.
This is certainly an interesting twist on the telecaster sound. The neck is a pleasant handful and really comfortable to play. The combination of Bigsby trem and offset style bridge lends the guitar a less twangy tone though. The neck pickup is full and wonderfully musical with the bridge pickup delivering an aggressive edge without getting into the realms of the unbearably trebly. This guitar certainly still possesses most of the hall mark tonal features of its hardtail brethren but with maybe a bit more air and the ability to add a little wobble to proceedings is always welcome.
Black was a Custom Colour back in 1968 and Bigsby was also of course an optional extra so the chap or chaps or originally bought this must have paid a pretty premium for it.
Sometimes what we need in our lives is a little Bigsby fitted Telecaster for the late 60s. Get your before its gone.
