Gibson / ES-295 / 1955 / Cherry Red / Guitar

No, this is not the Memphis re-issue, this is one of only a handful (if that) of factory original mid 50's, cherry red ES-295's known to exist, complete with brown OHSC.

You probably do not have one of these in your collection and I am also guessing you have probably not seen one before but here it is...  a thing of sheer beauty and in near mint condition to boot.

Last one I know of that sold, was listed three years ago for $22,500 with an added jack socket plate and I can happily send you the link for this if you like. This one, like the other one was probably a special order NAMM show or similar. I have also seen a 1955 cherry red ES-5 which looked equally spectacular.

No finish issues, no touch ups and 100% original factory finish in excellent + condition with just a very small amount of fine checking. Gold hardware has the usual minor amount of wear and a small amount of tarnish (see pictures) All hardware and plastic is original, or at the very least period correct and in excellent condition. There are no holes or cracks in the creme pickup covers or original pickguard which like the rest of the guitar is in exceptional condition.

I have a good look around inside and all solder joints are original and undisturbed including the connections to the pickups.

Serial number is A 21818 and FON number begins with a 'W' Guitar has the original frets which as to be expected are the low profile versions but there is no problem with the playability and everyone who has seen it has commented on how well it plays. Dead straight neck, hardly any fingerboard rutting and both P-90's are classic, vintage and evenly balanced however this amazing guitar sounds so good acoustically you will hardly need them...
