Gibson / Flying V / 1967 / Sunburst / Guitar

How about this then… this is without a doubt something you do not see every day. This is a 100% original, 1967 Gibson Flying V in sunburst, near MINT with original receipt completely un-modified, factory original, one of the estimated 17 out of a mere 175 that are ’surviviors’ without any mods at all plus the original purchace receipt from 1971 and a non original hard case. Phew…!

This particular one is serial number 940712 and is probably from batch number 4 of the 5 batches of 35 that make up the entire production run of these mid sixties Flying V’s. It is also pretty close to Hendrix’s V which was serial number 932954. How cool is that..

Whats more, it is excellent plus to near MINT example. There are no breaks repairs or modifications, no touch ups or overspray, all solder is perfect and undisturbed and all hardware, including the fragile pickguard is near mint and crack free. There are just a few minor dings here and there, mainly on the back and edges of the guitar and headstock (see pictures).

This was bought in 2007 by a private collector who is now offering it for sale and it is probably the finest and most original example on the market right now, in fact it is possibly the ONLY one on the market right now and if you are looking for an investment piece.. well this is it!

One piece neck, one piece mahogany body, all 3 pots date to 30th week of 1966, all factory inspection stamps are present on the body and under the pickguard. Two lovely and totally un-molested Pat Number sticker humbuckers adorn this guitar with tone to die for. Guitar is super light weight, plays really well with a dead straight neck, hardly any wear on the original frets and no wear or rutting on the lovely dark fingerboard.

Yes, it really does not get much better than this..!!!

This guitar glows like a genie under black light and there are no areas of overspray, refinishing or repairs. Tuners are Kluson Deluxe double line, double ring and have been on the guitar since the Kalamazoo Gibson factory gave birth to it in 1967.

I truly beleive this is an exceptional example of a very rare guitar. Probably one of the finest out there. Price is not cheap granted, but try to find another one like this. I think you will struggle. All serious offer will be considered so do not be shy :-)
