Gibson / Les Paul Junior / 1958 / Sunburst / Guitar For Sale

A stunning, superb condition, 1958 Gibson Les Paul Junior... one of the last few single cut models made before the change to the double cutaway body later that year. If you are looking for a single cut Junior then this is probably the best year.

Born from a desire to provide a no-frills yet well constructed alternative to the company's other offerings, the Les Paul Junior has proven universally popular with those looking for a more primal instrument. Players seek out the Single Cut incarnation as kts felt that the larger joint between the neck and the body improves transfer of vibration from the strings and aides sustain. The combined with a single P90 makes for a potent combo.

This is a stunning example. The finish has retained its vibrancy, with the red layer of the sunburst still visible. There are a few dinks, in particular on the back, these are not extensive and don't detract from the look of the guitar. There's a wonderful depth to the colour which acentuates the grain.

The neck too has retained its wonderful glossy finish and has a few mark. The fretboardshows some very slight signs of wear and the frets have plenty of life left in them. The headstock is break free. There is a slight ding to the edge but it still retains the sharp edge of a new guitar.

The tuners are all correct and the tailpiece is in good condition. The plastics are in good order too, showing no sign of the passing of time.

Electronically everything is correct and looks great, with the renowned "bumblebee" capacitor dominting control cavity. The original vintage P90 pickup is still present and sings.

What can we say about these guitars that you won't already know. Incredibly versatile for an instrument with so few options. The controls are very interactive, coaxing out a wide palette of tones. The neck is very comfortable and combined with the newer frets makes this a very nice guitar to play. These guitars are incredibly popular for a reason.

We can't get enough of these guitars. They are very popular and never really disappoint in the tone department so get yours before it slips away.
